Common Control Cards
Removing a Control Card
1. Connect the ESD wrist strap connector to the cage and put on the strap.
Circuit cards contain static-sensitive circuitry and might be damaged or destroyed by
electro-static discharge (ESD). Always wear the static dissipating wrist strap connected
to the system cabinet or card cage while handling circuit cards. Hold circuit cards by
their edges and avoid touching contact surfaces. Handle with care and do not drop.
Failure to observe safe handling procedures for static sensitive circuitry may result in
permanent damage to a card.
2. Disconnect any front panel cables.
3. Unfasten any screws that might be securing the card to the cage (positioned
behind the ejectors).
4. Do one of the following:
If the card ejectors include safety latches, simultaneously grasp both
ejectors with your thumbs pressing on the latches and then push the ejectors
in the direction of the arrows. See
If the card ejectors do not include safety latches, simultaneously push the
ejectors in the direction of the arrows. See
Do not remove the card from its slot when the HD LED is flashing, indicating CFD or
Hard Drive activity.
5. Remove the card from the cage or shelf.
