Determining the Frequency of System Side Swaps
There is an option of setting up the HSB system to swap system sides between Active
and Standby at a set frequency. This is accomplished by setting the relevant PI
parameters in the HSB branch from the Active side.
1. From the PI terminal of the Active side, access the HSB branch by typing
HSB or by entering 0,11 from the Root Menu.
2. The PI prompts:
0-Update
1-Display
Enter 0 to enable updating the system parameters.
3. The PI first displays the read-only parameters describing the HSB setup,
immediately followed by the first updatable parameter:
AUTO HOT SWAP (Y/N) -
This parameter determines whether to automatically swap system sides. The
next two parameters determine the swap time and frequency.
Enter Yes to activate automatic Hot Swaps.
4. The PI prompts with the next parameter:
NUMBER OF DAYS BETWEEN HOT SWAPS - 1
5. Enter a number between 1 and 255. The default is set to 1 so that Hot Swaps
are performed daily at a set time.
6. The PI prompts with the next parameter
SET AUTO SWAP TIME - 1:00
7. Enter the time at which the auto Hot Swaps are to be performed. The default is
set to 1:00 AM when call traffic is presumably low. If the system is usually
busy at that time, any other time may be entered. Use the 24-hour format to
enter time, for instance, 3:15 PM is entered as 15:15. (Time Format Examples:
0:00 or 24:00 is midnight, 0:30 or 24:30 is 12:30AM, 23:59 is 11:59PM).
8. Continue pressing Enter without changing any of the other parameters until
you reach the last parameter to update the changes:
UPDATE STATUS (Y/N):
9. Enter Yes to update the change requests. Enter No to retract.
