Outlining RAID functions
Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) is a technology that can combine two or more
drives for fault tolerance and continuous service. The CallPilot RAID controller is a PCI RAID
SCSI card that provides high-performance disk mirroring with RAID Level 1.
With Level 1 mirroring, two equal-capacity disk drives mirror one another. One disk drive serves
as the backup copy of the other disk drive. If one disk drive fails, the other continues to run.

RAID configuring and splitting

Working with RAID involves the following:
• verifying the RAID firmware version
• upgrading or downgrading the RAID firmware
• configuring RAID using the LSI320-1 controller and the Ctrl+M menu at server bootup
• ensuring that your system is working and the RAID hardware is properly configured
