To run the ping command from Windows
1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
2. Type ping <destination IP address> (for example, ping 200.286.32.0) or ping

4. Type Exit to exit the Command Prompt dialog box and return to Windows.

The tracert command

This utility determines the route taken to a destination.
Avaya CallPilot® 1005r Server Maintenance and Diagnostics
Resolves addresses to host names.
Specifies the number of echo requests to send.
Sends buffer size.
Sets Don't Fragment flag in packet.
Specifies the Time To Live.
Specifies the Type Of Service.
Specifies the number of Record route for count hops.
Specifies the number of Time stamp for count hops.
Specifies the Loose source route along host list.
Specifies the Strict source route along host list.
Specifies the Timeout in milliseconds to wait for each reply.
Result: The Command Prompt dialog box appears.
