BRAKES
Bleeding the front braking system
A long travel and mushy feel of the brake lever indicate that there is air in the
system and the brake needs bleeding. Bleeding is also required after changing
brake fluid.
To bleed the front braking system, bleed the master cylinder on the handlebar
(A) first and then bleed the calliper (B).
Motorcycle handlebar must be turned to the left during the bleeding
procedure. This will keep the master cylinder reservoir higher, mak-
ing bleeding easier.
Proceed as follows:
-
Remove the master cylinder cover (1) and the relative bellow (2).
-
Loosen the bleed screw (3) slightly.
Fluid level inside the reservoir shall never drop below the minimum
notch during the bleeding procedure.
-
Pull the brake lever (4) slowly and check that the fluid draining from the bleed
screw (3) contains no air bubbles. If the fluid contains bubbles, tighten the
bleed screw (3) and release the lever (4).
-
Repeat the procedure until the fluid drained from the bleed screw (3) contains
no air bubbles.
-
Tighten the bleed screw (3).
-
Top up the fluid level in the reservoir (5) correctly.
