System troubleshooting
The following table provides troubleshooting information for system problems that are not related
to a particular system module.
Table 8–10: General system troubleshooting
Symptom
Unit does not power-on
No response from keypad.
Screen is blank
Start-up diagnostics indicate
failing result
Start-up failure with error
message "Plunger homing
over pressure (0 or 1)"
Front panel software "lock up"
Fans not running
The separations module is not
fully functional in remote
configuration (controlled via
RS-232 by a remote data
system)
Possible cause
Power cord not connected
No power at outlet
Keypad broken
Unit not powered-on
Start-up diagnostic test failure
Internal problem with controller
board, solvent management
system, sample management

Clogged in-line filter
Blockage in sample

Restriction between solvent

Corrective action
Establish line voltage is
present.
Call Waters Technical Service.
Power-on unit.
Power-off and power-on again.
If the failure is not corrected,

Clean or replace filter element.
Remove blockage or replace
line.
Remove restriction.
Power-off and power-on again.

Disconnect the separations
module from the remote data
system, then run the unit in a
standalone mode to test
functionality.
