3. Secure the outer tie rod to the axle with the slotted nut. Tighten the nut from
129 to 149 N∙m (95 to 110 ft-lb).
4. Check and adjust the axle stop bolts; refer to
(page
7–3).
5. Continue to tighten the slotted nut to align if necessary and install a new
cotter pin.
6. Grease the outer tie rod with Mobil high-temp XHP-222 grease or equivalent
until the boot swells. Do not allow the grease to purge from boot.
