When using a Waters 2414 Detector with flow rates above 5 mL/min, use

the flow splitter option.
The flow splitter eliminates excessive pressure on the RI cell. It diverts about
1% of the flow to the RI detector and, ultimately, to waste. The remaining flow
goes to the function valve and fraction outlets or gets divided at the fraction
collector.
