Specifying a printer for the instrument
After specifying a printer for the instrument, you can print the following for the currently
running test application:
•
The display
•
The setup parameters
•
The test results
To specify a printer for the instrument

Press the SYSTEM/HOME button.

Select the System Setup softkey.

In the Printer box, select Printer, and then select the type of printer you are
connecting to the unit. If you select a USB printer, you can then select the manu-
facturer for the printer.
The printer is specified. For instructions on connecting a printer to the base unit, refer
to the 8000 Base Unit User Manual or 6000A Base Unit User Manual.
Connecting your instrument to the circuit
Before connecting your instrument to the circuit for testing, consider the following:

Older chassis for some test instruments provide internal connectors for all
supported optical line rates.
•
Newer chassis require either an external optical connector or a CFP, SFP, SFP+,
XFP, or QSFP+ transceiver (and/or adapter) to test optical circuits, providing
greater flexibility. For handling guidance, see

If you are connecting an MSAM to the circuit, verify that the appropriate PIM (or
PIMs) are inserted into the MSAM.
