SmartNode 100 Series ATA User Manual
A local area network (LAN) is a network of computers or other devices that are in relatively close range of each
other. For example, devices in a home or office building would be considered part of a local area network.
The LAN Setup window contains the LAN TCP/IP interface settings for the ATA. These settings may be
referred to as "private settings". As the LAN IP address is private to your internal network and cannot be seen
on the Internet, you can change the LAN IP address if needed.
Do the following:
1. Type the IP address that was provided by your ISP. The default address is 192.168.1.1.
2. Type the subnet mask that was provided by your ISP. The default is 255.255.255.0.
3. If you will be using a DHCP Server, click on the drop-down menu, then select Enabled.
DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Control Protocol. The DHCP server gives out IP addresses when a
device is starting up and requests an IP address to be logged onto the network. The device must be set as a
DHCP client to "Obtain the IP address automatically". By default, the DHCP Server is enabled in the
unit. The DHCP address pool contains the range of the IP address that will automatically be assigned to
the clients on the network.
