Enabling PIM-SM
With PIM-SM enabled, a router sends hello messages periodically to discover PIM neighbors and
processes messages from the PIM neighbors. When deploying a PIM-SM domain, you are recommended
to enable PIM-SM on all non-border interfaces of the routers.
Configuration guidelines
Follow these guidelines when you enable PIM-SM in a VPN instance:
All the interfaces in the same VPN instance on the same router must operate in the same PIM mode.
•
IGMP snooping is not allowed in a VLAN after PIM-SM is enabled on the VLAN interface of the
•
VLAN, and vice versa.
