DTC Troubleshooting
Step
1
Was "A/T System Check" performed?

Is there DTC related to throttle position sensor (P0120)?

Check throttle position signal circuit for IG short
1) Turn ignition switch OFF.
2) Disconnect TCM and ECM connectors from TCM and
ECM.
3) Check proper connection to TCM at terminal "G07-6"
and to ECM at terminal "G03-14".
4) If OK, turn ignition switch ON and measure voltage
between terminal "G07-6" of disconnected harness side
TCM connector and ground.
Is it 10 – 14 V?

Check throttle position signal circuit for open
1) Turn ignition switch OFF.
2) Check continuity between terminal "G07-6" of
disconnected harness side TCM connector and terminal
"G03-14" of disconnected harness side ECM connector.
Is continuity indicated?

Check throttle position signal circuit for ground short
1) Check continuity between terminal "G07-6" of
disconnected harness side TCM connector and ground.
Is continuity indicated?

DTC P1702 (No.52): Internal Malfunction of TCM

DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area
DTC detecting condition
Calculation of current data stored in TCM is not correct
comparing with pre-stored checking data in TCM.
DTC Confirmation Procedure
1) Clear DTCs in TCM memory.
2) After passing 10 seconds from turning ignition switch ON, check DTC.

Is there DTC P1702 / DTC No.52 after performing "DTC
Confirmation Procedure"?

Yes
Go to Step 2.
Go to DTC P0120 Flow. Go to Step 3.
"PPL/WHT" circuit
shorted to power circuit.
Go to Step 5.
"PPL/WHT" circuit
shorted to ground.
Trouble area
TCM
Yes
Replace TCM.
No
Go to "A/T System
Check".
Go to Step 4.
"PPL/WHT" circuit open.
Intermittent trouble or
faulty TCM or ECM.
Check for intermittent
referring to "Intermittent
and Poor Connection
Inspection in Section 00
in related manual".
If OK, substitute a
known-good TCM or
ECM and recheck.
