12. Initial setting related to process
control
The check and adjustment must be performed when replacing the
photoconductor drum or the process control PWB, when cleaning or
replacing the sensors, or before performing the picture quality adjust-
ment.

(1) Drum marking sensor output check
1
Open the front cover and remove the process unit cover. (Screw,
1 pc.)
2
Execute simulation 44-2.
The photoconductor drum rotates and the output adjustment value
of the drum marking sensor is displayed on the copy quantity
display.
3
If the displayed output adjustment value is outside the adjustment
range, adjust the rough adjustment control (VR-1) and the minute
adjustment control (VR-3) on the process control PWB so that the
value is 170 ±10.
(2) Process control sensor (image density sensor)
output check
1
Execute simulation 44-3.

The photoconductor drum rotates and the image density sensor
output is displayed on the copy quantity display.
Check that the displayed output adjustment is 815 ± 15.
2
If the displayed output adjustment value is outside the adjustment
range, adjust the rough adjustment control (VR-2) and the minute
adjustment control (VR-4) on the process control PWB so that the
value is 815 ±10.
13. Initial AE sensor level adjustment
1
Execute Sim. 47. (The mirror base starts scanning, and stops at
the AE sensor level measurement point.)
2
Put several sheets of white paper (A4 or 11" x 17") on the original
table.
3
Press the START key again, and the AE sensor output level with
the white original is displayed on the copy quantity display. The
output level is stored.
14. Initial image quality adjustment
procedure
A. Manual density adjustment
(1) Normal mode density adjustment
1
Execute simulation 46 (Copy density adjustment).
The exposure data of the manual copy mode is displayed on the
copy quantity display.
2
Check that "1" (manual density mode) is displayed on the LCD
panel.
If the display is other than "1," use the exposure select key and
the exposure key to set to "1."
