Chapter 5. CPU Enclosure Installation Procedure

Note: The following statement applies to the CPU enclosure with power supplies or with a
power supply and cooling unit installed.
CAUTION:
This unit weighs more than 55 kg (121.2 pounds). Material handling systems such as
levers, slings, or lifts are required to safely move it. When this is not possible,
specially trained persons or services (such as riggers or movers) must be used.
Note: The following statement applies to the CPU enclosure after the power supplies or
after the power supply and cooling unit have been removed.
CAUTION:
The unit weighs between 32 kg (70 pounds) and 55 kg (121.2 pounds). Three persons
are required to safely lift the unit. Using less than three persons to lift the unit can
result in injury.
1. Open the shipping box and take the rails out of the box.
Note: The CPU enclosure requires 6 EIA positions. Be sure to leave enough space above
the railings to include the enclosure.
2. Install the rails by attaching the nut clip and rail mounting screws for each rail. Ensure
that the front and rear of each rail are installed at the same height, and ensure that both
rails are installed at the same EIA slot.
3. Install the nut clips for the enclosure.

4. Remove the power supply from the new enclosure. If you need more information to
remove the power supply, refer to the "Power Supply or Cooling Unit" Removal
procedure on page 4-61.
