Step 3
(from Step 2)
One of the FRUs remaining in the CPU Enclosure is defective.
To test each FRU, exchange the FRUs that have not already been exchanged in the
following order:
1. I/O card (IOC)
2. CPU card (CPU)
3. Memory card (MC)
4. System planar (SP)
5. I/O planars
6. Power supply (PS)
7. CPU module flex cables
8. I/O module flex cables
9. System interface board (SIB)
10.Operator panel
11. Power distribution cable cluster
The system is working correctly if the maintenance menu is displayed. If this occurs, the last
part you exchanged is defective.
1. Set the power button on the CPU Enclosure to Off.
2. Exchange one of the FRUs in the list.
3. Set the power button on the CPU Enclosure to On.
4. Wait for one of the following conditions to occur:
The Maintenance Menu is displayed.
The same three digit number is displayed in the operator panel display for longer than
three minutes except for the number165 which may display for up to ten minutes with
no activity on the BUMP console.
The number 888 is flashing in the operator panel display.
Is the maintenance menu displayed?
NO
YES
Repeat Step 3 until the defective FRU is identified or all the FRUs have
been exchanged.
If the symptom did not change and all the FRUs have been exchanged, call
your service support person for assistance.
If the symptom has changed, check for loose cards, cables, and obvious
problems. If you do not find a problem, return to Step 1 in this MAP and
follow the instructions for the new symptom.
The last FRU you exchanged is the defective one. Reinstall all the FRUs
you have exchanged, except the last one and power on the system. Go to
"Map 0410: Repair Checkout" in the Diagnostic Information For Micro
Channel Bus Systems .
