The optional PCI riser-card assembly 2 is dedicated for an internal ServeRAID adapter. If your server does
not come with PCI riser-card assembly 2, you may order it for hardware RAID upgrade or for installing
additional hard disk drives.

Installation guidelines

Use the installation guidelines to install the IBM System x3530 M4 Type 7160.
Attention: Static electricity that is released to internal server components when the server is powered-on
might cause the system to halt, which might result in the loss of data. To avoid this potential problem,
always use an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system when removing or installing a
hot-swap devices.
Before you install optional devices, read the following information:
• Read the safety information that begins in "Safety" on page v and the guidelines in "Handling
static-sensitive devices" on page 33. This information will help you work safely.
• Make sure that the devices that you are installing are supported.
