b. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new microprocessor to any unpainted
metal surface on the server.
c. Remove the microprocessor installation tool assembly from the package. The microprocessor
installation tool assembly comes with the microprocessor and microprocessor cover attached
to the tool. The microprocessor comes protected between the tool and the microprocessor
cover.
Attention:
• Do not rotate the handle on the tool until you are ready to install the microprocessor into the
microprocessor socket.
• Do not touch the microprocessor contacts; handle the microprocessor by the edges only.
Contaminants on the microprocessor contacts, such as oil from your skin, can cause
connection failures between the contacts and the socket.
• Handle the microprocessor carefully. Dropping the microprocessor during installation or
removal can damage the contacts.
d. Remove the cover from the bottom of the microprocessor installation tool. Press both
microprocessor cover release tabs outward (in opposite directions as shown in the illustration)
and remove the microprocessor installation tool with the microprocessor attached.
