Tras la instalación, accione varias veces la palanca
del freno y controle el funcionamiento correcto del
sistema de frenado.

Controle el desgaste de las zapatas del freno trasero des-
pués de los primeros 500 km y luego cada 4000 km.
Para comprobar el estado de desgaste de las zapatas del
freno trasero, actúe de la siguiente manera:
Extraiga la rueda trasera, véase pág. 111 (RUEDA
TRASERA).
Ahora es posible controlar el espesor del material de
fricción, el cual no ha de ser nunca inferior a 1 mm.
En caso de que se hubiera alcanzado el espesor míni-
mo permitido y se notaran unas anomalías en cuanto
al funcionamiento o si las piezas resultaran dañadas,
provea a su sustitución.

Tras haber comprobado:
Destornille y quite el tensor (1).

ATENCION
No ensucie las zapatas y sobre todo el material de
fricción con grasa para no perjudicar la eficiencia de
frenado.

ATENCION
Esta operación puede resultar difícil porque los mu-
elles (2) oponen una fuerte resistencia al desmontar
las zapatas.
Ponga cuidado en las manos y en los dedos para evi-
tar posibles aplastamientos o contusiones.
Evite tensar y torcer de manera excesiva los muelles
(2) porque podrían dañarse.
Agarre en el centro el borde interior de los dos materia-
les de fricción (3) y, tirando hacia Ud., sacuda las dos
zapatas que se liberarán.
Sustituya las zapatas con un par de nuevas.
IMPORTANTE
Vuelva a instalar los dos materiales
de fricción (3) acoplando las extremidades llanas (8) al
perno leva (7) y las extremidades perfiladas (9) al perno
fulcro (10).

ATENCION
Durante la instalación controle el enganche correcto
de los muelles (2).
Instale la rueda equipada con las zapatas.
Atornille el tensor (1).
Ajuste el freno, véase pág. 105 (FRENO TRASERO

DE TAMBOR - AJUSTE FRENO).

NOTE
Repeat the last three operations until eliminating
the air bubbles completely.
Check the brake fluid level, see p. 101 (DISC BRAKES
- CHECKING).

After reassembly, pull the brake lever repeatedly and
check the proper functioning of the braking system.

Check the rear brake shoe wear after the first 500 km and
successively every 4000 km.
To check the rear brake shoe wear, it is necessary to pro-
ceed as follows:
Remove the rear wheel, p. 111 (REAR WHEEL).
At this point it is possible to check the thickness of the
friction material, which must never be less than 1 mm.
If the minimum allowed limit has been reached, if you
notice any irregularity in the operation or if any part is
damaged, change the shoes.

After checking:
Unscrew and remove the adjuster (1).

CAUTION
Do not dirty the shoes and in particular the friction
material with oil or grease, in order not to affect the
braking efficiency.

CAUTION
This operation may be difficult, because the springs
(2) strongly resist to the removal of the shoes.
Be careful not to crush or bruise your hands and/or
fingers.
Avoid stretching and twisting the springs (2) exces-
sively, in order not to damage them.
Grasp the inner edge of the two friction elements (3) at
its centre and, pulling toward yourself, shake the shoes
and release them.
Replace the shoes with new ones.
NOTE
Put back the two friction elements (3), coupling
the plain ends (4) with the cam pin (5) and the shaped
ends (6) with the fulcrum pin (7).

CAUTION
Upon reassembly, make sure that the springs (2) are
correctly hooked.
Reassemble the wheel complete with shoes.
Tighten the adjuster (1).
Adjust the brake, see p. 105 (REAR DRUM BRAKE
- ADJUSTING THE BRAKE).
