Controle el desgaste de las pastillas de los frenos des-
pués de los primeros 500 km; luego cada 2000 km.
El desgaste de las pastillas del freno de disco depende
del uso, del tipo de conducción y de carretera.
El desgaste es mayor cuando se conduce sobre carrete-
ras sucias o mojadas.

Para realizar un control rápido del desgaste de las pasti-
llas delanteras hay que:
Coloque el vehículo sobre el caballete central.
Sólo por la pinza freno delantero:
Quitar la tapa de la pinza de freno (1).
IMPORTANTE
Para controlar el desgaste de las
pastillas del freno trasero, desmonte la pinza del freno tra-
sero, véase pág. 117 (DESMONTAJE PINZA FRENO
TRASERO).
Efectuar un control visual entre la pinza freno y las pas-
tillas.
Si el espesor del material de fricción (incluso de una sola
pastilla) queda reducido al valor aproximado de 1 mm,
sustituya ambas pastillas.

Coloque el vehículo sobre el caballete central.
Sólo por la pinza freno delantero:
Saque la tapa pinza freno (1).
Saque el anillo de seguridad (2).
Extraiga el perno (3).
Saque el muelle (4).
Extraiga las pastillas (5) extrayéndolas una a la vez.
Sólo por la pinza freno trasero:
Guarde las placas antisilbido (6).

ATENCION
No accione la palanca mando freno tras haber sacado
las pastillas, porque el émbolo de la pinza podría salir-
se de su sede, causando la pérdida del líquido frenos.
Sustituya siempre ambas pastillas y asegúrese de su
correcta colocación dentro de la pinza.
Introduzca dos pastillas nuevas.
Sólo por la pinza freno trasero:
Introduzca las placas antisilbido (6).
Introduzca correctamente el muelle (4).
Introduzca el perno (3).
Instale el anillo de seguridad (2).
Sólo por la pinza freno delantero:
Vuelva a colocar la tapa pinza freno (1).
Controle el nivel del líquido frenos, véase pág. 101
(FRENOS DE DISCO - CONTROL).

Check the brake pad wear after the first 500 km and suc-
cessively every 2000 km.
The wear of the brake pads depends on the use, on the
kind of drive and on the road. The wear will be greater
when the vehicle is driven on dirty or wet roads.

To carry out a rapid checking of the wear of the front pads,
proceed as follows:
Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
Only for the front brake caliper:
Remove the brake caliper cover (1).
NOTE
To check the rear brake pad wear, remove the
rear brake caliper, see p. 115 (REMOVING THE FRONT
BRAKE CALIPER).
Carry out a visual checking of the friction material thick-
ness by looking between the brake caliper and the
pads.
If the thickness of the friction material (even of one pad
only) has reduced to about 1 mm, replace both pads.

Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
Only for the front brake caliper:
Remove the brake caliper cover (1).
Remove the snap ring (2).
Withdraw the pin (3).
Remove the spring (4).
Extract the pads (5), by withdrawing them one by one.
Only for the rear brake caliper:
Take the antiwhistle plates (6).

After removing the pads, do not pull the brake lever,
otherwise the caliper pin may go out of its seat, thus
causing the outflow of the brake fluid.
Always change both pads and make sure that they are
correctly positioned inside the caliper.
Insert two new pads.
Only for the rear brake caliper:
Insert the antiwhistle plates (6).
Insert the spring (4) correctly.
Insert the pin (3).
Install the snap ring (2).
Only for the front brake caliper:
Put back the brake caliper cover (1).
Check the brake fluid level, see p. 101 (DISC BRAKES
- CHECKING).
