Cooling System Pressure Test

1. Remove the hood from the front cab.
WARNING
Escaping steam can cause burns. Never remove the
pressure cap while the engine is warm or hot. Always
allow the engine to cool before removing the pressure
2. Remove the pressure cap from the radiator and
pressure
test
the
commercially available tester.
3. The system must maintain 10 PSI for five minutes or
longer. If pressure loss is evident within five minutes,
check the radiator, all cooling system hoses, clamps
and water pump seal for signs of leaking.

Radiator Cap Pressure Test

1. Open the front hood.
Escaping steam can cause burns. Never remove the
pressure cap while the engine is warm or hot. Always
allow the engine to cool before removing the pressure
2. Remove radiator pressure cap and test using a
commercially available pressure cap tester.
3. Replace cap if it does not meet the specification.

NOTE: This procedure should also be followed for
radiator fan replacement.
1. Remove the hood and front bumper. (see Chapter 10
– Front Bumper Removal, page 10.12)
2. Remove the four fasteners retaining the front bumper
support to the main frame.
