Remove the rear fend er and the righ t-side
footwell
as described in C hapter Fiftee n.
2. Remove the cotter [lin and clevis pin securing
thc brake paw l

3. Remo ve the co tter pin and wa sher s securing the
brake lock lever to
the
bra ke pawl.
4. Disen gage the brake loc k lever from the brake
pawl along with the two wa shers.
5.
Withdraw the brak e loc k lever from the mount-
ing pla te.
6. Remove the ratc het rod from the mount ing plate.
7. Install
by
reversi ng these removal steps while
not ing
the
fo llowing:
a . Apply g rease to all pivot poin ts and slid ing
sur faces prior to insta llation.
b. Install li eu' cotter pins and bend the end s o ver
completely.

I. Remove
the rear fender and the right-s ide
footwel l as described in Chapter Fifte en .
2. Disconnect
the sprin g fro m the brake pawl and
handle .
Remove
thc spring.
3. Rem ove thc cott er pin and clevi s pin sec uring
the link age to the brake pawl.
4 . Rem ove the cotter pin and wa shers securing the
linkage

5. Rem ove the
nut
and larg e washe r securing the
brak e hand le to the bra cket.
6. Insta ll by reversing these removal ste ps while
noting the following:

b. Insta ll s ew cotter pin s and bend the end s over
completely.
