Inspec tion
It
is not necessa ry to remo ve the disc from the
w heel to inspect
it.
Sma ll nicks and mark s on the
di sc (F igu re 83 ) are not important, but rad ial
sc ratc hes deep enough to snag a finge rnail reduce
braki ng e ff ective ness and increa se brake pa d wear.
lf thcse grooves arc e vident, a nd the brake pa ds are
wearin g rapidly, replace the d isc.
Th e standard and wea r limi t spec ifica tions arc
listed in Table 2.
When servic ing the brake discs, do not have the
di scs reconditioned (g ro und) to co mpe nsa te for
any warpage . T he discs are thi n and grinding only
reduces their thi ckness, causing them to warp quite
rapidly. If the disc is war ped. the brake pad s may
be dr agging

the disc; thi s causes the disc to
ove rheat.
