T he ce nter-to-center distance (A, F ig ure 20)
from the drive pulley to the dri ven pulley, alignme nt
of the pull eys ( Fig ure 2 1) and the offset of the pul-
leys (Fig ure 22 ) mu st be co rrec tly ma intai ned for
good per formance and long belt life. Refer to Ta b le
I for the recomm end ed pulley cente r-to-ce nter di s-
tance .

the belt is too long, the shift ratio w ill be too sho rt,

or if the pull ey offset is incorrect ( Figu re 22 ), the

I. Remove the dr
ive belt as described in this chapter.
2. Measure the dista nce (A, Fig ure 20 ) between the
pull ey centers. If the d istance is different from the
specification listed in Ta ble I , check the engine and
transmissio n mo unting bolts. If loose. tight en the
bol ts and recheck pulley center-to-center distance.

b. Clutch alignme nt is COITcct when the bar fits
eas ily over the driv e pulley, con tac ts the rear
edge of the dri ven pulley and has 3.2 mm ( 1/8
