wooden or
alumi-

ring

only
thc
outer
race is
supported,
pressure
applied
against
the
ball
bearings and/or
the inner race
will
damage
thcm.
c. The moment the
shaft
is
free of the
bearing,
it
will
drop to the
floor,
Secure or hold the
shaft
to
prevent
it
from
falling.

Always
make surc
the
press
ram (Figur e 38

aligns
with the
center
of the
shaft.
If the
ram is
not
centered,
it may damage the
bearing
and/o
r shaft.

hydraulic
press.
However, certain
procedures
must be
followed
or damage
may
occur to the bear-
ing, shaft or bearin
g housing.
Note the
following
when
using a
press:

do
not
strike the hammer
directly
against
the
shaft. In
stead, usc a
brass oraluminum rod
between
the hamm er
and shaft (Figure 37) and
