11 . If the oil pres sure is high er than spec ified check
the following :
a. Oil visco sity is too heavy ; drai n the oil and re-
fill with lighter weight o il.
b. Clogged oil pas sagewa y.
c. Combination o f the above
12. Sh ut ofT the eng ine and re mov e the test eq uip-
ment.
13. Apply a light coat of gasket sea ler to the blind
plug, theo iostall the plug (Figure 25 ) on to the cyl-
inder head and tighten securely.
14. C heck the oil level and adj ust if nec essary.
15. Ins ta ll the front feoder as desc r ibed in C hapter

Transmission Oil Level Check
I. Park the ATV on leve l gro und and set the par k-
ing bra ke.
2. Rem ove the o il fill d ipstick (F ig ure 26) and
wipe it clean. Reinsert the d ipstick and remove it.
3. T he oil level mu st be with in the knurled section
of the d ipstiek (Figure 27) .
4. [f necessary. add the correct
type
of oil (Ta ble 3) to
bring the level within die knurled section ofthe dipstick.

gearcase lubricant, or equivalent, listed in
Table
3.
To change the transm ission o il and filter, the fol-
lo wing is required:
a . Drain pan .
b. Funnel.
c. Can opener or pour spout.
d. Wre nch and sockets.
e. 24 oz . bo u le of lub ricant.

NOTE
Warming. the transmission allows the
oil to heat up. This causes it to f low
freely and can)' contamination and
any sludge buildup out with it.

Ride the ATV for 10-15 minute s and shift throu gh
both transmission ranges. Shut off the engine.
2. Place the ATV on level ground and set the park-
ing brake.
3. Place a drain pan under the transmission dr ain
plug.

4 . Loo sen the drain plug (F ig ure 28) . Remove the
drain plug and gas ket.
