Configuring the DHCP server

By default, the CN3000 is configured as a DHCP server. If you already have a DCHP
server operating on the wired LAN, you should disable it and use the one on the
CN3000. This is required because the CN3000 does not forward traffic between the
WLAN and the LAN, which means that a DHCP server operating on the wired LAN
cannot assign IP addresses to wireless client stations. The only way for wireless
stations to dynamically receive an IP address is via the DHCP server on the CN3000.
Another option is to enable DHCP relay or use static IP addressing on the WLAN.
To configure the DHCP server
1. Click Network > Address Allocation.
2. Select the DHCP server and click Configure.
3. Configure the appropriate settings. Refer to the online help for details.
4. Click Save.

The CN3000 automatically attempts to detect the type of server provided by your
ISP (DHCP, PPPoE). If incorrect, select the correct option and configure the settings
as required.
