Connecting to a
The CN3000 provides a LAN port for connection to a wired network. Generally, this is
used to:
wired LAN
• connect the CN3000 to one or more CN300s or CN320s
• connect wired computers to the public access network
For example:
Setting the LAN port address
The CN3000 connects to the wired LAN via its LAN port. You must assign a static IP
address to this port because the CN3000 cannot function as a DHCP client on its LAN
port.
The wireless port and the LAN port are bridged, so changing the LAN port address also
changes the address of the wireless network.
The CN3000 acts as a bridge between the wireless LAN and the wired LAN. This
means that if you want to change the LAN port address, you will also change the IP
address of the wireless network.
Note: By default, all traffic forwarding between the wireless LAN and wired LAN is
blocked. Therefore, although the wired LAN and the WLAN must be on the same
subnet, they cannot communicate with each other.
To assign the LAN port address
1. Click Wireless.
2. Click Wi-Fi.
3. Assign the new IP address and associated mask in the Wireless port box.
4. Click Save.
