Note: The distance between access points option provides the best performance
benefit when client stations are equipped with wireless adapters that are configured with
the same setting. However, not all manufacturers support this feature.

The CN3000 can be installed in conjunction with several CN300 or CN320s to provide
multiple wireless cells for coverage of large locations. Client computers are able to move
cell wireless
between cells (called roaming), without loosing contact with the network. This is
networks
possible because wireless adapters automatically switch to the best available wireless
access point.

Multiple cells with roaming clients. CN300/CN320s can be used in the place of CN3000s.
To support this configuration, all access points must be must be on the same subnet.
You can either use a backbone LAN to interconnect the units, or daisy chain them
together using cross-over cables. See the Administrator's Guide for the CN300/CN320
for details.
Configuration issues
Operating frequency
When using multiple units, it is important that each pair of wireless cells that overlap be
set to operate on a different channel. This helps to eliminate crosstalk and increase
performance. For information on selecting operating frequencies, see
overlapping wireless cells" on page
Network name
Configure all CN3000s with the same network name (SSID).
Internet connection
Only one CN3000 can be connected to the Internet in this configuration. This also
means that if a VPN connection is required to a remote server, this CN3000 must also
make the connection.
Security
To properly support roaming, all CN3000s must be configured with the same security
features and settings, or no security (not recommended).
