Diagnosing a Problem

Problem Area

Your library issues an

problem with your library

You get repeated errors,
multiple functions surface
failure messages, or Txxx
codes...
HTML error 404 appear on
computer screen when trying
to launch the Web User
Interface...
Then...
v Touch the Library, Drives, or Media button at the bottom
of the Operator Panel screen, then touch Operator
Interventions to view the error message(s).
v After reading an error message, touch the Resolve button to
display the suggested resolution for the problem.
v Refer to Chapter 10, "Service Action Tickets (Txxx) and
Diagnostic Resolutions (DRxxx)," on page 10-1 for more
information about the Service Action Ticket number (Txxx).
Before calling IBM to order a replacement CRU or to request
FRU replacement:
v Refer to Chapter 10, "Service Action Tickets (Txxx) and
Diagnostic Resolutions (DRxxx)," on page 10-1 for
additional information on resolving the problem.
v Reseat all external cables and terminators. For more
information, see "Reseating Cables" on page 9-12.
v Observe the LEDs on all components (For more
information, see "Interpreting LEDs" on page 9-6.). If the
LEDs on a component indicate that there is a problem,
reseat the component.
v Open the library doors and observe all internal cable
connections, such as the flex cable on the Picker Assembly.
v If possible, power cycle the library.
v If the error occurs again, replace the suspect component.
Refer to Appendix B, "TapeAlert Flags," on page B-1.
If after trying all diagnostic procedures you are unable to
resolve the problem, refer to "Contacting IBM Technical
Support" on page 9-15.
1. Power cycle the library.
2. If the same message appears, replace the Compact Flash
Card (see "Removing/Replacing the Library Control Blade
and Compact Flash Card" on page 11-10.
Open and close an Access Door to ensure that any latent error
handling is completed and to enable normal library robotic
function.
1. Verify that the Ethernet cable is properly connected at both
ends.
2. If the cable is properly connected, refer to
"Removing/Replacing the Library Control Blade and
Compact Flash Card" on page 11-10.
