Camera Setup

The Camera Setup menu shows all the commands that control the function of the reader's camera.
Many of these command settings can also be controlled from the WebLink user interface. For example,
the Exposure and Gain settings in the Camera Settings command can be configured in the Acquire
section located in the left panel of the Setup view.
Command parameters can be changed directly from this menu.

Note: When Illumination Brightness is set to Constant, the illumination brightness is the same power
level as the High setting. However, the LEDs are continuously on once Brightness is set to Constant,
and they will remain on during and after the read cycle to eliminate perceptible flashing.
Exposure – This is the amount of time in microseconds that the sensor will actively expose for. The
minimum setting is 16 μs. The maximum is 400 msec. 16 μs is very short and can be used in lieu of a
very fast strobe to stop motion for moving applications. In this case, you only need to set up a bright,
constant illumination source.
Pixel Binning – When pixel binning is enabled, the image is reduced to half resolution by using sub-
sampling every other pixel. The resulting image is 1232 x 1024 pixels, but the field of view remains the
same as it was in full resolution mode.
• The PPE of codes in the image are thus reduced in half as well, allowing for faster processing.
• The Frame Rate in binning mode doubles to 72 frames per second.
• Autocalibration may turn on Pixel Binning automatically.
• When using the Configuration Database, Pixel Binning can be turned on or off on an image by
image basis. Any decodes within that image will work on reduced-resolution symbols.
