8 Advanced Settings
Illumination Brightness – This value is set to off for the V440-F. This function does not apply to this
unit because it does not have built-in lighting.
Light Source – Light source is always set to External Strobe. By default, the reader sends an external
strobe signal out on Output 3. The external strobe output signal follows the exact Exposure signal sent
to the sensor unless modified by the next two values. Output 3 can be used to trigger any external light.
Fixed Light On Time – By default, the external strobe trigger signal sent from the reader to an external
strobe controller follows the exact time the sensor is exposing. For example, if the exposure time is 1
msec, then the external strobe output pulse will also be 1 msec.
The actual external strobe output pulse can be set longer or shorter than the exposure time based on
the Fixed Light On Time setting. This value can, for instance, be used to create a strobe pulse that is
even faster than the 16 μs minimum exposure time by setting it to something less.
Fixed Light Delay Time – This allows you to actively align their external strobe source with the V440-F
acquisition exposure time. If the external strobe controller and light is known to have a delay between
when it receives a trigger and when it turns the light on, you can set this setting to that known delay
value, and the camera will delay for that amount of time before it takes the picture, thus ensuring it is
aligned with when the light comes on.
Simulation Images – The V440-F can be run on stored images for debugging purposes. When this
setting is enabled, images will be captured from files rather than from the camera. The file location is
set with the next parameter.
Capture Image from File – This is the location for the files in the reader's memory. Images can be
copied into this location using FileZilla Client. Log into the reader using the reader IP. The login is
target. The password is password. Navigate to the /mmc0/user/images/ folder and drag images into
it. When the reader is triggered, it will cycle through these images. Disable Simulation Images to go
back to acquiring images with the camera.
Use as External Illumination Strobe
Use as External Illumination Strobe is available in the Output On parameter of the Output 3
command in I/O Parameters. External Strobe must be enabled for this parameter to function.
