Attempt Morphology Manipulation
Attempt Morphology Manipulation applies morphology dilation and attempts to decode. If this isn't
successful, it applies morphology erosion and attempts to decode.
If you prefer to use serial commands, the following command allows you to enter your settings via a
Terminal.
Serial Command: <K568,Attempt Morphology Manipulation>
Default Setting: Disabled
Options:
0 = Disabled
1 = Enabled
Examples:
<K568,0> = Disabled
<K568,1> = Enabled
Extend Image Boundary Pixels
Extended Boundary EB Mode – Some applications benefit from have a window of interest WOI tight
around the symbol. The benefit can come from having a smaller image to process, less "noise" around
the symbol, or fewer L-patterns in the image.
When the Data Matrix symbol is too close to the WOI border it will compromise decoding, leading to No
Reads. EB Mode increases the size of the image by creating an artificial low resolution border around
the WOI prior to attempting to decoding it.
EB Mode is configured by setting the boundary to a value greater than 0. 8 is a typical value, and will
add 8 pixels to the WOI, as in the example below.
New Image from WOI Plus 8 Pixels on Each Side:
EB Mode should not be enabled with the WOI at the size of the full image. The reader will stop
decoding Data Matrix symbols.
Serial Command: <K569,0>
Default Setting: Disabled
Options:
0 = Disabled
Greater than 0 = Number of Boundary Pixels to Add
Examples:
<K569,0> = Disabled
<K569,8> = Eight-Pixel Boundary
