Configure Read Cycle Settings

The reader can be configured to operate in free-running Continuous mode or Triggered mode. This is
defined in the Cycle section of the Read Cycle Sequence on the left side of the user interface in
Setup view. All cycle modes are described in detail in the Section 4 – Setup.
2-8-1
Continuous
In Continuous mode, the reader is in a continuous free-running state. Symbols can be presented to
the reader at will. During the read cycle, the reader continuously acquires and processes images until
all symbols are found or until the timeout is reached. Continuous mode is useful during reader setup
because you don't have to send a trigger to see the immediate results of your configuration changes.
2-8-2
Triggered
In Triggered mode, the read cycle starts with a trigger and ends with a good read or a timeout. The
trigger can come either from a physical or serial input, or it can be initiated with one of two trigger
buttons on the screen. One of the buttons sends a single trigger to the reader, and the other button
sends a continuous stream of triggers to the reader.
