8. Center punch and drill a 6 mm (1/4 inch) hole (approximate) into the outside
of the bearing retainer to a depth of about 3/4 the thickness of the retainer
(Figure
202).
Drilling completely through the retainer ring will damage the axle
shaft.

Wear protective safety goggles when breaking the retaining ring.
Personal injury could result from flying metal particles. Keep
bystanders away during this procedure.
9. Place a chisel in position across the drilled hole and strike sharply to break
the retainer
