Ⅲ. The Making Procedure of S400 Series Update Connector
1. One side of the connector is a plug with 4 holes, another side is RS232 with 9 holes, and the
middle is connected by tri-core wire.
2. The making procedure is as below:
(1). Peel the surface of the red, black, blue wires off with pliers on the front for about 1mm,
making the copper wire exposed.
(2). Solder the pins to wire cores with soldering iron.
(3). Nip the fixing piece and the pins tightly, making the wire fixed well.
(4). Plug the wires into the 4-hole white plug with the order of black, red, and blue, to the hole
No.1, 2, 3. Pull the wires strongly to see whether the pins are fixed or not.
(5). Solder the wires onto the 9-hole plug with the order of red, blue, and black, to the hole No.2,
3, 5. Pull the wires strongly to see whether the wire cores are soldered tightly or not.
Assemble the RS-232 COM Plug as the picture below:
3. The structure and definition of the update connector is as below:
Sometimes the notebook doesn't have a 9-pin RS-232, so you need a 9-pins USB-RS232 adapter.
This adapter needs installing attached drivers (Refer to the right picture above, the disk was
packaged by plastic) even in Windows XP system. Before plugging the adapter to the notebook,
copy the USB-RS232 file from the disk to the notebook, and install drivers according to the right
model.
