Common Faults Troubleshooting for S480
1. Ink/Make-up Tank Is Empty
a. Check the ink levels in ink bottle. If the ink level is no more than 2/3 of the tank, replenish the
ink tank with new ink.
b. Enter <System Status>, Press Shift + C , and set the level precision at 200.
2. Move Printer
The tilt angle should not be over 40°when moving the printer, and put down smoothly.
3. No Signal Fault
a. Enter <System Maintenance>, select <Manual Control>. Press on Pump, then Beam
Adjustment. If the nozzle is blocked, perform Unblock the nozzle and Nozzle Backwash.
When there comes the straight ink stream, press Exit and restart the printer.
b. Reset the "Nozzle Drivers Setup", observe the breakoff points with magnifying glass on the
observing window of recharge plate:
Find the detailed procedure in Chapter 6.
4. Unclear Characters
a. Adjust the Ink Pressure Regulator, set it at 40psi.
b. Adjust the nozzle drive setup.
c. Message height should not be lower than 80. If there is a need to further lower down the
height, adjust the voltage of recharge in <System Maintenance>.
d. Adjust the ink stream at the middle of gutter, 1/4 to the up-side of it.
5. Viscometer Fault
a. Enter <System Maintenance>, select <Manual Control>. Press on Pump, and then Churn Valve.
Restart the printer in three minutes.
6. Communication Fault
a. Re-connect RS485 wires of all the boards. Restart the printer.
b. Check whether there are any interference sources nearby the printer or not and also check
whether power supply line is grounding well or not.
