Agent Rem ot e I D sub- opt ion. The next field specifies t he lengt h of t he field. The Swit ch t akes t he
Circuit I D st ring you m anually configure for a VLAN on a port as t he highest priorit y and t he Circuit
I D st ring for a port as t he second priorit y. I n addit ion, t he Swit ch put s t he PPPoE client 's MAC
address int o t he Agent Rem ot e I D Sub- opt ion if you do not specify any user- defined st ring.
30.1.2.1 Flexible Circuit ID Syntax with Identifier String and Variables
I f you do not configure a Circuit I D st ring for a VLAN on a specific port or for a specific port , t he
Swit ch adds t he user- defined ident ifier st ring and variables int o t he Agent Circuit I D Sub- opt ion.
The variables can be t he slot I D of t he PPPoE client , t he port num ber of t he PPPoE client and/ or t he
VLAN I D on t he PPPoE packet .
The ident ifier- st ring, slot I D, port num ber and VLAN I D are separat ed from each ot her by a pound
key ( # ) , sem i- colon ( ; ) , period ( .) , com m a ( ,) , forward slash ( / ) or space. An Agent Circuit I D Sub-
opt ion exam ple is " Swit ch/ 07/ 0123" and indicat es t he PPPoE packet s com e from a PPPoE client
which is connect ed t o t he Swit ch's port 7 and belong t o VLAN 123.

I f you do not configure a Circuit I D st ring for a specific VLAN on a port or for a specific port , and
disable t he flexible Circuit I D synt ax in t he PPPoE > I nt e r m e dia t e Age nt screen, t he Swit ch
aut om at ically generat es a Circuit I D st ring according t o t he default Circuit I D synt ax which is
defined in t he DSL Forum Working Text ( WT) - 101. The default access node ident ifier is t he host
nam e of t he PPPoE int erm ediat e agent and t he et h indicat es " Et hernet ".

Every port is eit her a t rust ed port or an unt rust ed port for t he PPPoE int erm ediat e agent . This
set t ing is independent of t he t rust ed/ unt rust ed set t ing for DHCP snooping or ARP inspect ion. You
can also specify t he agent sub- opt ions ( circuit I D and rem ot e I D) t hat t he Swit ch adds t o PADI and
PADR packet s from PPPoE client s.
