Toner Cartridge Replacement

The number of pages that can be printed with a toner cartridge varies depending on
the type of documents received and copied. On average, one cartridge has enough
toner for 3,000 pages/A4 of standard business communications at a typical print cov-
erage of 4% (equivalent of ITU No. 1 test chart). The first toner cartridge installed in
a new image drum unit will yield a lower number of copies because the image drum
unit itself has to be filled.
When the machine displays "Replace Toner Cart.," the toner cartridge should be re-
placed by a new cartridge immediately. However, if the print density is still very
good, the cartridge can continue to be used until the density becomes noticeably poor.
If the print density becomes low even before the machine displays the toner warning,
gently wipe the lens surface of the LED array (see Step 6). If the print density does not
improve, replace the toner cartridge.
Warning: The Konica FAX9840 machines will not operate if any toner cartridge other
than that specified by Konica is installed. Be sure to read toner packaging carefully
before purchase and installation. Take care when handling the toner cartridge. Do not
let toner spill on clothing or other porous materials. See the section on Safety at the
beginning of this handbook.
1 Turn off the power switch.
2 Grasp the document tray from the bottom and lift up, swinging the document
tray up and back.
