Using the Office

The system message icons, double exclamation
points
[!!]
or a single exclamation point
[!],
appear when a system message is waiting
for your attention.
To see the message, you
either point to the icon with the mouse and
press the Bl mouse button or press the Msg
key.
o
The Window Manager icon,
[W], appears at the
right end of the status line.
You can point
to this icon and press the Bl mouse button to
gain access to the Window Manager (see
"Working with Windows" in this section) .
o
Your applications may display additional
symbols in the status line.
See your
application manuals for more information.
The work area, the middle portion of your screen,
displays all your windows, including menus and forms.
When you first log in, the Office window is displayed.
The messaQe ]ine, located just below the work area,
displays feedback from any task you have selected and
messages to help guide you in completing any of your
selected tasks.
The command line, located below the message line,
displays the commands you have selected to accomplish
your tasks.
The screen keys, located at the bottom of the screen,
display Office commands.
These commands or functions
correspond to the function keys Fl through F8.
The
commands or functions are associated with the active
window, and they change to provide different commands
for each window.
The commands can be executed in two
ways:
by pressing the corresponding function key or by
pointing to the screen key with the mouse and pressing
the Bl mouse button.
