Setting Up the
UNIX
PC
For information on setting up an expansion port, see
"Setting Up Expansion Ports" in this chapter.
Before you can use the RS-232 port, you must:
o
Make the physical connection using a cable
with RS-232 connectors.
o
Set up (configure) your system to recognize
the type of connection you are making.
Refer to the appropriate equipment operator's manual
for cable connections.
A null modem (or crossed
send/receive) cable is required when you are connecting
two pieces of equipment (such as two
UNIX
PCs or a
terminal and a
UNIX
PC) without an external modem.
For
more information on null modem cables, see Appendix D.
To set up an RS-232 port:
