Using Office Commands
Shutdown COmmand
The Shutdown command must be entered before you turn
off the power to the UNIX PC.
This command can be
executed only from the Commands menu on the UNIX PC
console.
It cannot be executed from a remote terminal.
Cautions
Do not turn off the power without
performing the shutdown procedure.
Failure to enter the Shutdown command
before turning the power off can result
in loss of data or damage to your hard
disk.
Do not turn off the power without making
sure that all users except the user on
the console are logged off and that no
incoming or outgoing mail is being sent.
Otherwise, work in progress may be lost
or destroyed.
To enter the Shutdown command:

Make sure all remote users are logged off.

Shutdown

from the Commands menu.
If other users are on the system, or if there
is incoming or outgoing mail, you see a
warning message.
Press <Enter> to continue.
You see a confirmation message requiring you
to respond.

Press <Enter> to continue.
If other users are logged in, they will
receive a broadcast message informing them to
log off.
The system then waits for one
minute.
