Changing User Preferences
Largest first:
Objects are displayed in order from
largest to smallest.
Smallest first:
Objects are displayed in order from
smallest to largest.
Alphabetical by type:
All objects of the same type are
grouped together and alphabetized within each group.
For example, all file folders are displayed in
alphabetical order, then all standard files in
alphabetical order, and so on.
Standard window rows:
The default entry is 12.
The
standard window height is 12 rows.
You can enter any
new value from 5 through 18.
Standard window columns:
The default entry is 75.
The
standard window width is 75 columns.
You can enter any
new value from 20 through 76.
Empty
Wastebasket?
~
is the default entry.
The Wastebasket is never
emptied automatically.
~:
The Wastebasket is emptied automatically after
you log in each day.
Weekly:
All objects that have been in the Wastebasket
for more than 7 days are deleted automatically after
you log in.
Monthly:
All objects that have been in the Wastebasket
for more than 1 month are deleted automatically after
you log in.
Permissions:
Note that new values in the permission
preferences affect only those files and folders created
after the new values are assigned.
You can use the
Security command to check and change permissions for
specific files or folders.
Read permissions:
Private:
Only someone logged in under your user name
can read or copy your files or search through your
folders.
