Selecting Objects and Entering Commands
A pathname is a shorthand way of allowing you to
specify this relationship, using slashes (/).
For
example, the pathname to the practice folder is:
Filecabinet/practice
If you look at the window that contains the practice
folder, notice that the window title is Filecabinet/
practice.
This title indicates that practice is a
folder contained in the Filecabinet.
Opening a Folder by Typing the Pathname
To open or resume a folder by typing its pathname, you
must type the complete pathname exactly as the object
names appear in the Office window or folder displays.
For instance, to open the practice folder, you type
Filecabinet with an uppercase F, a slash, and practice
with a lowercase p.
Example
To open the practice folder:
1
Resume the Office.
2
Type Filecabinet/practice
3
Press <Return> or <Enter>.
This typed command opens the practice folder, no matter
what folder window is active when you type the command.
You could also enter this command as follows:
1
Press <Cmd>.
2
Type open Filecabinet/practice
3
Press <Return> or <Enter>.
