Using the Office
The following examples show valid and invalid file
names and names that the UNIX PC does not allow you to
use.

Acceptable, but if you write many
letters you may have trouble remembering
what is in the file.
A good name because you can immediately
tell this is the letter you wrote to
J. S. on the 5th of May.
Unacc~ptable;
i t uses symbols other than
periods, underscores, and hyphens.
Acceptable; but the nature of the file's
contents may not be clear after some
time has passed.
Unacceptable because it includes a
space.
Acceptable; the underscore can be used
to separate words for clarity.
A good name for a file folder containing
budget information.
You may find i t helpful to begin file folder names with
capital letters and file names with lowercase letters.
Using a convention like this makes it easier for you to
scan a list of your folders and files and quickly
locate the ones you need.
SpeciaJ Objects
You may see other objects in your Filecabinet or
folders.
These include the following when the
Asynchronous Terminal Emulator is installed:
Modem Profile:
This label is used to describe a
configuration for the modem.
Modem Profiles are stored
in the Profiles folder in your Filecabinet.
