Using Floppy Disks
You see the following message:
MS-DOS Disk Format.
Please insert diskette.
Touch ENTER to continue
or CANCl to stop.
5 Insert a blank floppy disk and press <Enter>.
You see the following message:
Formatting 8 sectors/track, 320 kbytes/disk.
Format in progress, please wait ...
This formatting takes a few minutes as several surface
check passes are completed. You will be notified when
the disk is formatted. Press the Enter key to return
to the Floppydisk menu.
Reading MS-DOS Floppy Disks
If you have data or source files on an MS-DOS floppy
disk, you can examine the directory of the MS-DOS disk
and copy any of the files into your UNIX PC
Filecabinet. This function is useful only if the MS-
DOS files were created
w~th
an MS-DOS application for
which an equivalent UNIX application is installed on
your UNIX PC. If you do not have an equivalent
application installed on your UNIX PC, you may need to
create a program that translates MS-DOS data or source
files into a format understood by the UNIX PC.
Executable object files should not be moved from an MS-
DOS environment to the UNIX PC environment using this
function.
