Meter Ranges

Model N6705 User's Guide
Some power modules have multiple voltage and current
measurement ranges (see chapter 1 under "
Selecting a lower measurement range provides greater measurement
accuracy, provided that the measurement does not exceed the range.
If the measurement exceeds the range, an "Overload" error will
occur.
From the front panel
To specify a measurement range, press the Meter View key, then press
Properties.
Meter Ranges - In the Voltage or Current dropdown menu, select
the desired lower measurement range. Check the Auto box to enable
measurement autoranging. The instrument automatically selects the
best measurement range for the amplitude of the measurement.
Measurement Time – Lets you specify the Line Frequency of the ac
mains; either 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
NPLC - For better measurement accuracy and to reduce
measurement noise on low current and voltage measurements, you
can specify the number of power line cycles (NPLC) that the
measurement will span.
Time Interval - This field indicates the integration time of each
measurement.
The measurement time settings in the Meter Properties window apply to the
NOTE
front panel voltage and current meters only. These settings are completely
independent from the measurement settings for SCPI measurements, Scope
View, Data Logger View, Elog, and histogram.
From the remote interface:
To specify a voltage or current measurement range:
SENS:CURR:RANG <current>, (@1)
SENS:VOLT:RANG <voltage>, (@1)
The value that you send should be the maximum current that you
expect to measure. The instrument selects the range with the best
resolution for the value entered.
