Specifying a Color to Drop Out
[Dropout color]
By using the "Dropout Color" function, you can scan
documents with the specified color removed from the light's
three primary colors which are red, green, and blue.
For instance, when you scan a document containing black text
with a green background, you can output an image of black
text only.
Dropout colors can only be specified in black & white or
grayscale mode.
Dropout works best with light (low intensity) colors, and
dark colors may not drop out.

Start up the Software Operation Panel.

From the listing on the left, select [Device Setting 2]
[Dropout color].

Select a color to drop out.

None: No color is dropped out.
When connected via SCSI or USB connector 1, the
Software Operation Panel allows you to select colors from
red, green, and blue only. To drop out other colors,
configure the settings in the scanner driver. For

This setting can also be configured from the scanner
driver's setup dialog box. Note that priority is given to
the scanner driver setting.
This setting does NOT appear when Kofax VRS is
used.
