To start the EMS server using a command prompt:
1 From a command prompt, navigate to the folder where the FDServer.jar
executable file is located.
2 From the folder containing the FDServer.jar executable file, enter the
following command and optional parameters:
runServer [parameter1, parameter2, parameter3]
lists the parameters for the runServer command.

The command prompt window displays the progress of the EMS server
startup sequence.
If this is a new installation, the EMS Server will start in Evaluation

Mode and will support up to 20 devices without an activation key.
If the installation is upgrading from a previous version of EMS it does

not need a new activation key
3 After the server has completed its startup sequence, you can minimize
the EMS Server window.
CAUTION: Do not close the EMS Server GUI using the system close
button. The server must be properly shut down using the "quit"
command to maintain database integrity.

with export <name>).
Compact database on start-up.
Provides EMS with an activation key obtained from the
3Com web site.
Do not cache python scripts (compile each time invoked).
Do not cache Java methods (reload each time invoked).
Purge orphan objects from database on start-up.
Tell the server it is running as a daemon. For configuration
information, see Starting the EMS Server as a Daemon.
