Forwarding Traps to a
Network
Management
Platform
EMS provides an updated trapd.conf file that decodes all 3Com device
traps. EMS also sends its own traps for backup, restore, and agent update
actions.
EMS' SNMP library does not share the trap port. Therefore, EMS receives
all traps and forward them on to OpenView or NetView as appropriate.
OpenView can handle around 2,000 traps per second while EMS can only
handle around 200.
In order to forward traps to a network management platform such as
OpenView or NetView, the server.properties file needs to be
configured.
1 Stop the EMS Server.
2 Locate the server.properties file in the <EMS Home> directory.
3 Open it in a text editor.
