LATFORM
The trapd.conf file contains the traps translation text and is located here:
UNIX — /etc/opt/OV/share/conf/C
■
Windows — C:\Program Files\HP Openview\NNM\conf\C
■
At the top of the file are trap categories (groupings of traps into the
same log), which correspond to a button on the Alarms Dialog.
For example:
CATEGORY 2 "Error Alarms" "Error Alarms"
OID_ALIAS lists the enterprise MIB IDs used by the trap
identifiers.
For example:
OID_ALIAS 3Com .1.3.6.1.4.1.43
is required for the trap definition
EVENT 3COM_90 .1.3.6.1.4.1.43.0.90 "Status Alarms" Warning
FORMAT IP Address $3 changed for $1 with serial number $2.
SDESC
This trap is sent whenever the IP address of the device
changes.
EDESC
MIBs must be loaded in the order determined by the imports in the MIB
files and are located here:
UNIX — /etc/opt/OV/share/conf/C/snmp_mibs
■
Windows — C:\Program Files\HP Openview\NNM\snmp_mibs
■
For example, MIB 3fc-043 contains the following IMPORTS:
linkSwitch1000-mib FROM A3Com-products-MIB
DisplayString FROM RFC1213-MIB
OBJECT-TYPE FROM RFC-1212
This means that 3FC-1212, RFC1213, and 3com-45 (which contains the
definition for A3Com-products-MIB) must be loaded before 3FC-043.
The file $3Com/common/ov/mibs/miborder.txt contains the list of MIBs
loaded in the correct order.
